About My Blades

What's with the "2"?

Good question. I'm named after my Grandfather, so I'm the "second", not a "junior". I've always included the numeral in my handwritten initials, so here it is in my logo as well. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Each blade is a custom profile developed by me, typically from sketches. Designing these things is probably the most enjoyable part for me; finishing them is the most satisfying. I'm inspired by other blades I admire, sure, but not one of my blades is copied from someone else. Each blade is profiled, beveled, hardened, tempered, polished, handled, and sheathed. The blades are carefully made to use (many are even made to abuse!). The steel is high-carbon blade steel, usually of the 1084, 1095, 80CrV2 variety. The handles are crafted almost always from some type of locally-sourced hardwood - Oak, Cherry, Osage, etc. Each blade comes with a matching custom sheath made from hand-stitched heavy tooling leather. Custom engraving is available.
